What We Value at RELC
Trust
Above all, our goal is to keep the children safe, both physically and emotionally.
We know young children need consistent and predictable relationships with their teachers. We make every effort to keep children in the same groups throughout their time at RELC.
Families
We work closely with parents because parents are the most important people in the lives of their children. Parents are their first teachers.
We respond to parents' needs and ideas because we know that children will not trust us unless their families trust us.
We value our partnerships with families because parents and families have important information and views to share about the growth of their children.
Learning
We recognize the importance of learning during the early childhood years because we know that a preschool child's brain is at a critical stage of development.
We take an active role in children's learning because children learn from adult examples and through their relationships with others.
We develop a curriculum that is not only "play-based," it is "living-based" because children learn by everything they do.
We help children develop inner control because we know that this will enable them to make appropriate decisions and choices.
We facilitate problem solving because conflict management is an important life skill.
We communicate and work with Evanston District 65 and early childhood educators because we recognize the need for positive transition to kindergarten.
